ISLAMABAD, The capital city of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan is famous throughout the world for its natural
beauty with rolling topography and greenery. Its Master
Plan, Sectorial plan, Highways, wide roads, streets
and pedestrian paths, separated by green belts, health,
educational, religious and re-creational facilities, provide
all possible civic facilities and amenities required for
an excellent urban settlement.
ISLAMABAD residential area has already expanded to a great extent leaving only a few sectors for further
development.
Scarcity of planned habitat in Rawalpindi which is the
closest urban development has raised the prices of residential
and commercial plots in Islamabad manifold in developed
sectors of Islamabad, the residential plots are being sold
at from Rs. 30 million per kanal to 60 million per canal where as the cost of
commercial properties have shooted up to over Rs. 200,000/=
per sq yard.
In 1992, the Govt of Pakistan taking notice of the increasing
trend of prices, in the residential sectors of Islamabad
decided to privatize the land North of Kashmir Highway
and West of G.T Road designated as Zone 2; similarly
the land South of Swan Highway and East of G.T Road defined by the Master Plan of Islamabad was
also decided to be privatized for development by Co-Operative Societies and Developers designated as Zone V.
